Dr. Horgan's interests
revolve around nutrient fate and general turfgrass management. Specifically, he
is interested in improving our nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer
recommendations, gaining a better understanding of the fate of phosphorus in
our environment, and utilizing organic nitrogen fractions in the soil to create
an N-credit program. He will be evaluating turfgrass species and cultivars to
help provide information to the turfgrass managers around Minnesota and the northern climate states.
In addition, he is the turfgrass extension specialist. This title gives him an
excellent opportunity to interact with the industry and facilitate educational
programs designed to meet the needs of the state. He is the faculty advisor to
the Horticulture Club and the student chapter of the Golf Course
Superintendents Association of America.
