Research

Two faculty have 100% appointments in floriculture:

John Erwin--research (flowering physiology), extension

Neil Anderson--research (flower breeding), teaching

Other department faculty with research expertise in related fields:

Cindy Tong (postharvest)

Albert Markhart (water relations)

Annual bedding plant trials

Herbaceous perennial winter hardiness trials

Dr. Erwin's research interests emphasize environmental physiology of greenhouse crops. He
is researching how plant stem elongation and flower initiation are influenced by light quality

and temperature. His research is applied and basic in nature.

Dr. Anderson's research focuses on winter hardiness and selection against invasiveness in herbaceous perennials.
