In May 2006 twenty intrepid courageous talented curious trusting students joined one faculty member to explore organic food, gardens, castles, geological wonders, and history of Iceland and Germany. And in the process learned a lot about ourselves and the world. Although we all went to the same places heard the same talks, everyone had a unique experience bringing home different memories, important insights, and a wide variety of trinkets(some more than others) and treasures.
Everyone kept a daily journal of experiences and reactions. These were synthesized into a reflective narrative and submitted for "publication" on this web site. I encourage you to read these stories of learning, growth, surprise, frustration, and wonder.
Exploring other cultures and getting to know people from other countries helps us all appreciate that there are lots of ways to be right and helps us understand our own country, culture, and ourselves better. |
