Plant Biotechnology

Plant Biotechnology is a cutting-edge field of study with broad applications. In horticulture, plant biotechnology is studied alongside genetics and cell and molecular biology, in order to improve crops. The end goal is to produce healthy food, sustainable ornamentals and turfgrass, and bioenergy. The coursework for this program of study is based in plant biology, gene transfer, tissue culture, and biochemistry. We encourage students studying plant biotechnology to interact with faculty, through collaborative or independent research. Hands-on experience in the field is invaluable.

Possible electives for Plant Biotechnology:
  • CFAN 1501  Biotechnology, People and the Environment
