Environmental Horticulture is a great program to consider if you are changing majors within the University of Minnesota or transferring from another school. Our major is flexible and allows you to tailor coursework to your educational and career goals. In addition, the number of free electives makes it easy to accomodate a minor. This creates many opportunities for transfer coursework to count toward the Environmental Horticulture major directly, or toward electives and liberal education requirements.
In addition, the job outlook for horticulture majors is promising – we usually have more job and internship postings than students to fill them! In fact, horticulture and the green industry is worth $2.1 billion in Minnesota alone each year! For students already working in horticulture or who have completed a 2-year degree, consider the new doors our Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Horticulture can open to advance your career.
