Hello! Welcome to our department web site. We developed it so you can learn about our Teaching, Research, and Outreach programs and meet our faculty, staff, and students. (Do you have gardening or landscape questions? Just click our gardening link for help.)

Our department is proud of the many cold-hardy plants we have developed - plants that improve the quality of life in the upper Midwest and enhance our horticultural industries. We're also proud of the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, a nine hundred and five acre paradise that showcases our plant materials and provides an outdoor laboratory for learning and research.

We offer a four-year degree program in Environmental Horticulture and support our undergraduates by awarding many thousands of dollars in scholarship money each year. We also offer a Master of Agriculture Program in Horticulture that provides a practical advanced degree for horticulture professionals and for people wishing to pursue a horticultural career after having worked in another field.

Our graduate students pursue advanced study in the Applied Plant Sciences Graduate Program. We offer research assistantships, on a competitive basis, to masters and doctoral candidates.

If you're interested in pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in horticulture, we encourage you to visit us in person. We are located on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota where we enjoy all the benefits of a large university in a friendly "small town" environment. To schedule a visit, please call or email Evonne Kuyper at 612-624-4242 or kuype001@umn.edu

Meantime, thanks for visiting our web site. We hope you enjoy this virtual tour of University of Minnesota Department of Horticultural Science.
