The Department of Horticultural Science well known for it's work in woody plant production and protection. The TRE nursery is a ten acre nursery on the St. Paul campus dedicated to teaching and research on nursery crops.  It is considered one of the finest teaching facilities for nurserymen in the country. Research at the TRE nursery covers many common production practices from the effects of planting depth to the commercial propagation of hard to root plants such as the white fringe tree.
