The University of Minnesota has long been known as one of the finest research facilities in the world for breeding and selecting cold hardy woody landscape plants, developing new production and protection methods, and basic research in woody plant biology. Breeding facilities at the Horticultural Research Center, the on campus TRE nursery for research and teaching, and a state of the art biochemisty laboratory enable faculty, students, and visiting scientists from around the world to conduct research in woody plant biology.
