Comments:
This newest portion of Lyndale Park is a long, meandering border in which perennials are tested over several seasons as to their hardiness, disease resistance and other performance criteria. This garden area had been first established earlier in 1925 and contained elaborate perennial plantings but had fallen into disuse by the 1960's. It is now maintained by the Men's Garden Club of Minneapolis. It follows the wood's edge from close to King's Highway down towards the Lake Harriet Peace Garden. Plants are labeled so visitors can make their own evaluations of the various species being tested. A more ornamental planting of many of the species being evaluated is planted on the end closest to the Peace Garden.
