Comments:
This is Mankato's largest park, established in 1887. It is separated from the river by a wooded bluff. On this bluff in an oak grove with a grass and wildflower restoration project with labeled plants. In the main park, there are various planting areas within an extensive lawn. There are water features (a tiered stone fountain and waterfall with pond) and lots of pavilions and gazebos. The rose garden is not labeled, but other plantings are labeled and feature some unusual plants and interesting plant combinations.
